WILAWOOD – Scandinavian special woods grown under the northern lights and the midnight sun
Wilawood Ltd is family business founded in 2018.
Wilawood makes handcrafted design products of curly birch and other Finnish wood species like rowan, flame birch, juniper and grey alder. their product range includes for example jewelry, serving trays, chopping boards and vases combining wood and mouthblown glass.
Curly birch used in their products is grown in PEFC-certified forest on their family’s homestead in Saarijärvi in Central Finland. Trees are chosen one by one in the forest and logged with manpower.
Wilawood prefers local production - wood barking and drying is done in Central Finland as well as almost all carpentry. Finishing of the bigger products is made mostly in Saarijärvi, and jewelry making too! Wilawood makes small handcrafted product series in co-operation with professional designers. They combine Finnish mouthblown design glass from Riihimäki and handmade glass beads from Nuutajärvi with wood. Wilawood products are finished with natural oils and waxes.
Every curly birch tree has its own unique pattern so the products made of them are unique as well.
